The Frustration
I love my house; don't get me wrong! BUT I should have looked pass the beautiful pond in my backyard and seen the light creme colored carpet, four kids, a very 'moist' (aka easily muddy) backyard and a bunch of critters!
WOW!
How do you keep carpet clean!?
I have tried a ton of things from normal carpet cleaners to different laundry detergents, soaps, cleaners and even bleach and Oxi-Clean!
Mostly, I am trying to scrub the carpet with a brush and then try again!
So I decided to give you a review of what I figured out and how well the different items work... OR NOT!
Capture Pet Stain & Odor Neutralizer
...AND THE WINNER IS:
This stuff is amazing! I can't say it any better! After hours of trying to bleach muddy footprints out of this darn carpet, this stuff didn't take but two or three 'runs' across one area to have my carpet look practically brand-new! And no nasty and eye burning smells afterwards!
It was barely over ten dollars at a certain home improvement store!
Home Remedy Plus Carpet Shampoo
This is one of my latest attempts to fight the evidence of kids, dogs and muddy outdoors. My Oldest was excited to report that it actually does a pretty well job and the scent is OK. So I will give this a good 4/4.5 out of 5 on my scale of effective carpet cleaning solutions!
It was roughly a little over ten dollars at the home improvement store.
Act One Step Stain And Odor Remover
On a scale from one to five, this one was probably working on a solid four. I'm not sure how much it was, since it was given to me, but it did an alright job and the scent was OK.
Per my busy teenager it was a lot less scrubbing and repeating than with any of the other cleaners following below!
Folex Instant Carpet Spot Remover
It wasn't a real winner, but it would do alright on most normal carpets and medium severity 'jobs'. Needs a bit more 'scent' to it too, to refresh your carpet.
Out of a 1-5 scale, I would probably give it a three.
It was the most expensive one at the home-improvement store at almost $17!
Red Max Pro
It wasn't a complete disaster, but it wasn't really impressive either. It did do a bit better than Resolve, which was actually a pretty easy task. All it had to do was to remove some stains to be better!
It was slightly under nine dollars at the home-improvement store, so it wasn't too much money wasted!
Resolve (my wallet only!)
...AND THE TOTAL COMPLETE AND UNBEATABLE LOOSER IS:
WHY did I buy this and waste my money!? Scrub, scrub, scrub... Smell still there and stains are just as bad! Didn't do much despite pre-soaking, soaking, cleaning attempt and a heartfelt growl!
Was a little over ten wasted dollars at the same home-improvement store!
Shout Carpet
I will let you know how it works when I am trying it out.
It was roughly a little over ten dollars at the home improvement store.
Pet Magic Pet Odor & Stain Eliminator
I will let you know how it works when I am trying it out.
This was also a 'gift' from a well-meaning friend that I am to try out. Kind of funny how sorry everybody feels for me when they find out I have almost white carpet, kids, farm and pets! But most home-improvement shows on TV actually seem to prefer light colored carpets!
I love home-improvement, but I would hate to have to replace that carpet shortly after I put it in!
Pricey Disappointments
In an attempt to clean my house, I spend a lot of money on cleaners. Some very pretty pricey disappointments; others did OK!
I did look at different 'Super Stores' and other places, but their quart-size bottles were the same price or much more than the gallon bottles at the home improvement store. And too often they had the same names written on them!
So I will stick to my first choice until the day when I can afford to replace the painful and work-intense carpet mistake (done by whomever owned my home before me) with a much either to upkeep wooden floor!
I may not look forward to the work to lay the floor, but I am looking forward to much less time spend cleaning!

I like Wool-lite with oxy-action. I have a white carpet also. I hate it. I have a dog who is well house broke and one child, and I don't live on a farm but the last house had white carpet also and I had 3 kids at home then and a farm. Also in the country with muddy yard and it worked pretty good. Smells good also and no chemical smell. $8.00 at Wal-mart.
